This entry could be titled, "how to impress friends and family with your cooking without doing a thing". Trader Joe's sells a truly amazing product - Frozen Seasoned Frenched Rack of Lamb. It is amazing for several reasons.
1. It's easy to make. Just let it defrost in the fridge overnight. Take it out of its wrapper, plop it on a baking pan fat-side-up, and put it in the oven at 350°F for 20 minutes for rare, 25 minutes for medium-rare. Remove, let cool for a few minutes and cut between the bones to serve.
2. It's delicious. The lamb is packed in garlic, salt, ground celery, canola oil, sesame seeds, rosemary and other spices. By the time it has defrosted the herb marinade has infused itself sufficiently into the meat. The resulting combination of flavors is perfect.
3. It's affordable. At $9.99/lb this frozen rack of lamb is a great value. One pound yields eight chops which serves three with leftovers.
4. It's great quality. TJ has high standards for all of its products, their frozen rack of lamb is no different.

ReplyDeleteA TJ store is a merciless proving ground. Only 2000-3000 separate items in stock,
vs 30,000 to 50,000 in a big supermarket.

The Frenched rack of lamb, seasoned to perfection, was a gourmet marvel that surpassed all expectations. The chef's talent and attention to detail were evident in the juicy medium-rare cooked to perfection of the soft, luscious flesh. The lamb's natural characteristics were enhanced by the spice blend, which added nuance and complexity without overpowering its delicate flavor. A symphony of delicious goodness accompanied every bite, leaving me wanting more long after the meal was over. This dish is a genuine treat for the senses, especially when paired with a glass of rich red wine. To anyone searching for a unique eating experience, I heartily suggest it.
